On behalf of the nearly 5,000 healthcare workers represented by JNESO, I am pleased to advise you that the Board of Directors has voted to endorse your candidacy for the State Senate.
As part of our endorsement process, we will be publicizing your candidacy to our membership via regular mail and email, and will be encouraging our members residing in your district to cast their vote for you in November.

Douglas A. Placa
JNESO District Council 1
The Executive Council of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO voted to endorse 189 candidates at the federal, state, and local levels. Representing 700,000 workers and 51 affiliate unions across the Commonwealth, the State Federation believes that these endorsed candidates will protect workers’ safety and health, defend good jobs, and fight for economic justice. The Pennsylvania AFL-CIO and our Central Labor Councils have an extensive vetting process for candidates seeking the endorsement of working people. The National AFL-CIO announced the support of former Vice President Joe Biden for President earlier this Summer. The officers of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO made the following statements:
“No election before has been as important as the one we face this Fall. Pennsylvania’s unions have endorsed public servants who put the needs of working families ahead of partisan
interests. The Union Movement is not a political party; we endorse candidates who support economic justice and commit to protecting the rights of workers, regardless of whether they have a “D” or an “R” after their name,” remarked President Rick Bloomingdale.
Secretary-Treasurer Frank Snyder added, “Pennsylvanians have 50 days, beginning September 14th to cast their votes and make their voices heard. As the General Election approaches this Fall, coupled with the uncertain status of the COVID-19 pandemic, we continue to be concerned
with potential voter disenfranchisement. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania must guarantee that all voters have the opportunity to cast their votes safely and securely in the coming months."
We are happy to inform you that your campaign has been awarded the 2020 Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate Distinction. Thank you again for advocating for gun violence prevention and making a commitment to govern with gun safety in mind.
Moms Demand Action is part of Everytown for Gun Safety, and is the nation’s largest grassroots volunteer network working to end gun violence in America. With nearly six million supporters and volunteer chapters in every state, Moms Demand Action campaigns for new and stronger solutions to lax gun laws and loopholes that jeopardize the safety of our families.
Thank you for advocating for common-sense gun safety.

Gettysburg DFA Endorses Todd Rowley for Congress and Rich Sterner for State Senate
I am writing on behalf of our Steering Committee to announce Gettysburg DFA's endorsement of Todd Rowley for US Congress in District 13 and Rich Sterner for Pennsylvania State Senate in the 33rd District.
Rich Sterner has been a school principal and is thoroughly familiar with local issues. He has the temperament and the commitment to be a representative for EVERY member of the 33rd District, not just those who voted for him. He listens to people and he has respect for the views of the experts. He will represent the concerns of farmers and farm workers; educators, students, and parents; business owners, and workers. In a time of serious partisan divide when too many politicians are seeking to divide us even further, Rich Sterner is the state senator District 33 needs to represent our interests in Harrisburg on all issues and to begin the process of bringing us together.
Thanks to Steering Committee Chair Leon Reed and Healthcare Task Force Chair Jeanne Duffy for crafting these paragraphs on the candidates.
Take care, be kind, and make sure friends and family all register and vote!
Will Lane, Vice Chair
The members of Adams County Democratic Committee strongly support Rich Sterner and his candidacy for Pennsylvania Senate District 33. Committee members will be working wholeheartedly to help get his message to voters and get him elected on November 3rd.
Rich Sterner is the right candidate at the right time, a voice of moderation and reason for the people of the 33rd District.
His 25 years of experience in the educational system of the District gives him special insight into the needs of students and their parents, as well as financial support for schools, including the property tax that is burdensome for many residents. He knows what jobs are available in the District and how to prepare students to meet the needs of local employers.
Currently serving as vice president of the Bermudian Springs School Board and on the board of the Adams County Technical Institute, Rich continues his work with and for the students and taxpayers of the community.
On the issues that are important to all constituents of the District, Rich’s platform consists of plans to protect all of us and to move the District forward with compassion and genuine caring for the people of South Central Pennsylvania
Rich Sterner first came to the attention of the Franklin County Democratic Committee when he expressed an interest in running for the Pennsylvania State Senate in 2019. This interest continued and grew stronger as the 2020 election season drew near. We got to know him better as he participated in petition signing events, and meetings and gatherings throughout our area.
Mr. Sterner is a lifelong resident of Pennsylvania. His career in education as a teacher, coach, and administrator has prepared him for a position as an advocate for the people of the 33rd Senatorial District. He is especially interested in public education, our local labor force and its needs, and those who provide emergency services, both paid and volunteer.
Most recently Rich has continued his commitment to his community by serving on the Bermudian Springs Board of Education and on the board of the Adams County Technical Institute.
Throughout his life Rich Sterner has been of service and is very well prepared to serve all the citizens of the 33rd Pennsylvania Senatorial District as a caring, compassionate state senator.
The members of the Franklin County Democratic Committee are prepared to work diligently to help Rich reach his goal and become a State Senator.
Hanover for Progress endorses Rich Sterner for PA Senate District 33.
In this unprecedented time with many of us unemployed and facing financial hardship or still working, but facing the fear of being exposed to COVID-19, we need leaders with real and relevant experience to solve our problems.
We believe Rich Sterner is such a leader. Mr. Sterner’s long and distinguished career in education reveals his commitment to developing future generations. Generations that value community, family, education, compassion, integrity and truthfulness.
South central Pennsylvania, now more than ever, needs leadership that represents all members of our community and not that of a single party or special interest group. Rich Sterner believes that every person has a right to be successful in life but first and foremost, we must maintain a healthy and safe community to achieve that goal.
While this is a challenging time for our communities, we must not overlook the fact that this is the most pivotal and consequential election in history. Voting for Rich Sterner is our opportunity to ensure we have leadership that seeks to unify and strengthen our community rather than divide us.
For these reasons and many more Hanover for Progress strongly endorses Rich Sterner for PA Senate District 33.
RIch Sterner is running for PA State Senate District 33, which contains all of Adams County, and parts of Cumberland, Franklin, and York Counties. He is a long-time educator, having served as a history teacher, the first Middle School Principal in Upper Adams, and Principal of Biglerville High School for 18 years. Rich has been an elected member of the Bermudian Springs School Board since 2018 and now serves as Vice President. He was recently appointed to the Joint Operating Committee (JOC) of the newly-created Adams County Technical Institute, which supports students working towards careers in technical fields.
As State Representative, Rich’s top three concerns will be education, the labor force, and supporting local emergency services. In his free time, he enjoys carpentry and playing the French Horn. Rich currently lives in East Berlin, PA with his wife Karen, and three dogs, Zeke, Zeus and Jeb. He has two daughters and two stepsons and recently became a grandfather!

Dear Mr. Sterner,
Let me start by commending you for your career working as an educator. Preparing the leaders of tomorrow is a public service in and of itself, and I would be glad to see you bring your years of experience to the Harrisburg Capitol. I am running for the PA House of Representatives for the 199th District. I am doing so because I want to make the voices of everybody in the district heard. I want the General Assembly to more closely reflect the needs of Pennsylvanians, and I believe that you will be a part of this goal. Your platform reflects the type of change we need to make our Commonwealth a more equitable and prosperous place to live. You acknowledge the need to protect the voting rights of all Pennsylvanians, an action which will ensure our democratic institutions remain strong for generations to come. Furthermore, you see the potential of alternative energy solutions to protect our environment while growing our economy. You seek commonsense solutions to issues such as gun safety and education reform and, most importantly, you proclaim the humanity of all people despite our perceived differences.
For all these reasons, I am proud to endorse your campaign for PA Senate District 33. Should you be elected, I know that you will make the residents of your district proud. I wish you luck in the coming months as you work toward the general election.
